Reiki

Reiki, pronounced ray-key, was founded in the early 20th Century by Mikao Usui and literally means ‘life force energy’.

It is an ancient Japanese system that believes this energy flows through us and provides our vital life force helping to keep balance and harmony. If this energy flow is low or becomes blocked and stagnant then we may suffer from poor health, lack of mental clarity and emotional issues.

While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion, and whatever belief system you have will make no difference to your ability to benefit from this hands’ on healing. Reiki is not dependent on belief and will encourage your physical, mental and emotional healing and spiritual growth regardless of whether you believe in it or not. Reiki can be enjoyed by anyone during their life and can be used alongside other conventional or complementary treatments.

During treatment you will remain fully clothed, so wear whatever is comfortable for you to lie down in for approximately one hour. I do suggest you remove your shoes during the treatment and any jewellery you may be wearing. There is no massage or manipulation, simply the gentle placing of hands in non-intrusive positions around your body.

You are treated as a whole rather than focusing on specific areas, the universal life force energy will be drawn to the parts of your body that need it. What you feel during the treatment very much depends on your needs at the time, you may feel nothing except deep relaxation and a sense of calm, peace and wellbeing. You might experience sensations of heat, cold, tingling, see colours or you may feel a shift in your emotions.
